Laurie C. Daugherty
Laurie Daugherty joins Montague Law, PLLC as Of Counsel to the firm. She focuses her practice on the following transactional areas:
- General corporate and business organizations and governance
- Commercial transactions, contracts and agreements, including nondisclosure agreements
- Investor agreements and equity arrangements
- Grant funding and loan transactions
- Leases and commercial real estate
- Estate planning
Laurie has been practicing law for over 25 years. She began her career as a judicial law clerk then worked in big firms in the Washington D.C. area, including Venable, a 600+ member firm, where she represented Marriott International as well as a number of small and mid-size businesses.
She is well versed in the issues and challenges faced by entrepreneurs, start-ups and small businesses. As a private sector business person, she has worked effectively with a broad spectrum of private, legislative branch and executive branch stakeholders, and has been involved at a decision-making level on a number of state programs funded through, and aligned with the objectives of, the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development and the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet. She spent eight years implementing and managing economic development initiatives in the state of Kentucky focused on entrepreneurship education and early stage and growth stage technology companies. Most notably she was the founding director of Kentucky’s Governor’s School for Entrepreneurs. She is passionate about helping your company succeed.
Laurie graduated with Distinction from the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University in Arlington, Virginia. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
